Lucapa Recovers Five Special Diamonds from Lulo Concession

(IDEX Online News) – Lucapa Diamond Company Limited has announced the recovery of five large diamonds after only four days of mining at the BLK_08 area at the Lulo Diamond Concession in Angola.

The five special (10.8+ carats and above) include stones weighing 53.2 carats, 21.7 carats, 21.1 carats, 12 carats and 10.8 carats. This brings the total number of special diamonds recovered during the quarter up to 15.

Lucapa chief executive Stephen Wetherall said the results underline the potential of the area to produce large and valuable diamonds on a consistent basis. “We are now mining in what is obviously a very exciting diamond field.”

The next sale of Lulo diamonds is scheduled to take place in early September. Lulo said it plans to have ~3,000 carats on offer.
