ALROSA Discovers 103-Carat Stone at Jubilee Pipe
October 11, 15(IDEX Online News) – Russian state miner ALROSA has announced the recovery of a 102.85-carat diamond from the Jubilee kimberlite pipe.
The diamond, which was found in September, is transparent, with moderate yellowish hue. There are small olivine, graphite and sulphide inclusions in the crystal.
According to ALROSA's Diamond Sorting Center, the stone has a potential auction value of more than $480,000.
This is the latest of a number of large finds from the pipe. So far this year, six diamonds in the 50-120-carat range have been recovered.
