Press Release: IGI’s On-Site Laboratory Returns to Jewelry Arabia 2015
November 18, 15(Press Release) – Following its successful debut at Jewelry Arabia last year, International Gemological Institute’s (IGI) on-site laboratory is set to make its mark again at this year’s event. Visitors to Jewelry Arabia, the largest jewelry exhibition in the Middle East, can receive expert advice on the quality of their diamond jewelry at the on-site laboratory.
IGI initiated the on-site laboratory, the world’s largest independent gem certification and appraisal institute for diamonds, colored gemstones and jewelry; to create awareness about the importance of jewelry certification among consumers and retailers. IGI will be present at stand number EH10 from November 24-28 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre in Manama.
“A certificate clearly describes the details of the diamond or gemstone, providing confidence for both buyer and seller. Awareness of the need for certification has dramatically improved in the region and with initiatives like the on-site laboratory, we aim to give customers a first-hand experience of how we can assess the quality of their precious stone. An industry event like Jewelry Arabia is the perfect platform to heighten awareness of certification and we are excited to participate in the show again,” said Nico D'Haemer, IGI Dubai managing director.
“Following the remarkable response to the on-site laboratory at the 2014 edition, this year too, IGI’s on-site laboratory combines the Institute’s international grading expertise with accessible technology, making a major contribution to the evolution of certification in the Middle East,” he added.
In addition to verbal consultations on diamond jewelry, visitors to the IGI booth can gain more insight on professional courses offered by IGI’s School of Gemology. One of the popular programs in Bahrain is the IGI Professional Jewelry Designer CAD, which is accredited by Tamkeen, established as part of Bahrain’s national reform initiatives to provide a results oriented approach tailored to serve community and businesses.
IGI plans to conduct the next jewelry designing course in early 2016 in Bahrain, to aid designers to create fully customized designs for customers or express their creativity with a line of virtual jewelry. Designers can use computer-aided design (CAD) programmes and tools to create and better visualize the final product. CAD makes it much easier and quicker to create and work on a number of design alternatives. This reduces design costs and the time it takes to deliver a product to market or specific client.
IGI also provides a manual jewelry design graduate course which brings out each individual's innate creativity, helping enthusiasts to design with ability and confidence. It helps an apprentice designer learn the basics and complexities of designing any type of jewelry, and estimating its cost. Through practical work with the use of simple tools for effective design and two-day workshop on handcrafted jewelry, designers can express their creativity by creating a portfolio of their own designs.
