IDC Launches Website to Explain Diamond Terminology

(IDEX Online News) – The International Diamond Council (IDC) has launched a website for use by trade members and the general consumer, as a platform to explain diamond nomenclature and terminology.

The IDC’s rules on precious stones can be downloaded in several languages; English, German, Russian, Arabic and Chinese.

"Consumer confidence in diamonds currently stands at the top of our industry's agenda,” said IDC president Harry Levy.

“This international standard helps consumers understand the differences between natural and synthetic diamonds, informs them about the various treatments of diamonds, as well as about simulants of diamonds, that can be other synthetic stones, artificial stones, glass, composite stones or other gemstones that can be misrepresented as natural diamonds."
