DiamondCorp plc Resumes Development at Lace Mine
November 24, 15(IDEX Online News) – Southern African mining company DiamondCorp plc. has announced that it has resumed development tunneling at its Lace mine, near the town of Kroonstad in Free State Province.
Work on the 290 meter doming level had been suspended, pending the installation of steel arched sets through a 10-meter cross section of tunnel.
Development is now progressing at the originally assumed rate – as the K4 kimberlite contains significantly less waste than the lower-grade K6 kimberlite.
"Resumption of development work on the 290m level combined with commissioning last week of the 400 tons per hour conveyor belt system from the first production level, means that many of the operational challenges we have been facing in recent months have been overcome, albeit that the overall development and production timetable remains behind schedule, as previously announced,” said DiamondCorp CEO Paul Loudon.
