Diamcor Begins Processing Stockpile with New Technology to Reduce Breakages
December 23, 15(IDEX Online News) – Diamcor Mining Inc. has installed equipment aimed at reducing the potential breakage of large diamonds through a selective crushing system. The Tomra XRT diamond recovery technology will be used to process material in the +26.0mm size fractions at the Krone-Endora at Venetia project in South Africa.
The company said the technology also provides the benefit of being a "dry system" that does not need water, unlike many other X-ray final recovery systems. Diamcor said it believes the technology may ultimately enhance overall processing capacities, increase efficiencies, and is the optimum solution for the effective treatment of the oversize material at the project.
The majority of the rough diamonds recovered and sold to date at the Project have been a result of the processing of material in the +1.0mm to -26.0mm size fractions. The new technology will allow it to efficiently and effectively process material from the estimated +/-600,000 tons of +26.0mm material stockpiled at the project.
