Angola’s 2015 Diamond Production Hits Record High

(IDEX Online News) – Diamond production in Angola reached a record 8.837 million carats in 2015, according to the minister of Geology and Mining, Francisco Queirós, as reported by macahub.
Despite the increase in production, revenue from sales, which totaled $1.107 billion, was down over 2014 due to a fall in the price of diamonds. In 2014, diamond sales totaled $1.303 billion.
Queirós said production amounted to 103 percent of the forecast in the revised National Development Plan, reported macahub.
