Element Six Begins Legal Action Against IIa Technologies

(IDEX Online News) – Element Six Technologies Ltd has begun legal proceedings in Singapore against IIa Technologies Pte. Ltd, alleging patent infringements used in synthetic diamond material production.
Element Six alleges that IIa Technologies is exploiting patents for commercial gain, in particular for the production of material which has a combination of high-optical transparency in the visible and infra-red spectral regions and low-crystalline stress. The commercial uses for these include optical applications such as infra-red spectroscopy and high-power laser optics.
Element Six believes that infringements have occurred in certain of its patents (in particular Singapore patent numbers 115872 and 110508), and has taken steps to protect its intellectual property rights and business interests, with particular regard to proprietary diamond products and their manufacture.
“Synthetic diamond material can be – and is – produced without infringing our patents. We believe this is a straightforward case of patent infringement and, as any company would do, Element Six is taking action to defend its position. To continue to be able to invest in research and development, we depend on our ability protect the intellectual property resulting from this research, development and innovation,” said Element Six chief executive Walter Hühn.
