Bulgaria Withdraws from KP Authority in Europe
January 31, 16(IDEX Online News) – Bulgaria has sent a letter to the European Commission informing it of its intention to stop maintaining a Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) Authority in its territory, according to the Official Journal of the European Union.
Bulgaria recently made its intention clear, which now leaves only six remaining European KP authority countries permitted to verify the import and export of rough diamonds: Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Portugal, Romania and United Kingdom.
Portugal was the most recent country to join the KP authority, having done so in August 2015.
