Botswana Diamonds Outlines 2016 Exploration Program
March 02, 16(IDEX Online News) – Botswana Diamonds plc has released the plans for its 2016 Botswana exploration program. It will commence during March and will be managed by Russian diamond producer, ALROSA.
The company said that it will focus on specific areas, drilling one core hole to 300 meters depth and one or two large diameter holes, each 300 meters deep on kimberlite pipe AK21 on PL 260 in the Orapa area. It will also drill two or three follow-up holes, each 80 meters in depth on PL 210 in the Orapa area.
Botswana Diamonds will also carry out ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys in Orapa and Gope.
“This is a very focused programme. The wide diameter holes to be drilled on a known kimberlite on our new licence in Orapa, PL 260, are to test whether diamond grades improve at depth,” said Botswana Diamonds chairman John Teeling.
“The Gope area is emerging as an attractive diamond province with the Gem owned Ghagoo mine and the Petra owned KX36 discovery. We have already explored three small licenses in the area and found anomalies. The proposed work will identify drill targets,” Teeling added.
Botswana Diamonds will cover half the proposed $700,000 budget.
