Kennady Discovers Third Kimberlite at Faraday
March 20, 16(IDEX Online News) – Kennady Diamonds Inc. has announced the discovery of a third kimberlite body at its Faraday kimberlite cluster, following exploration drilling at its Faraday North project.
The discovery was made following the completion of ice-based infill drilling at Faraday 1 kimberlite, after which the core rig was moved to a secondary location, 80 meters to the southwest, after indications of a kimberlite were discovered during the winter of 2015.
“Faraday 3 is the fourth kimberlite body that we have discovered at Kennady North over the past three years,” said Kennady president and CEO, Patrick Evans.
“Methodical exploration over the Kelvin – Faraday kimberlite corridor has increased our confidence in the potential for the discovery of further kimberlite bodies within the corridor.”
The company also announced that bulk sampling program at Kelvin North Lobe was progressing on target. To-date, the company has completed half of the 26 large diameter holes and has recovered 300 of the 500 tons of kimberlite it aims to recover. Kennady predicts that from that total, it will recover diamonds weighing more than 1,000 carats.
