Christie’s Magnificent Jewels Auction to Feature 16-Carat Ruby and Diamond Ring
March 23, 16(IDEX Online News) – Auction house Christie’s has announced the line-up for its spring jewelry sales commencing in New York, which features more than 250 lots of rare diamonds and colored stones.
The highlight of the auction will be the 15.99-carat Jubilee Ruby, one of the most important Burmese rubies to appear at auction in the US for over two decades. It is striking for its exceptional size, color and quality. The ring has an estimated price of $12 million to $15 million.
The auction will also include a 10.07-carat fancy intense purple-pink diamond ring estimated at $8 million to $12 million and a D-color 40.03 carat flawless circular cut diamond, estimated at $7 million to $10 million.
Other lots up for auction include a 23.14-carat Cabochon Kashmir sapphire ring estimated at $800,000 to $1.2 million. In addition, a 54.62-carat rectangular modified cut fancy vivid yellow diamond has an estimate of $1.5 million to $2 million. Also, a pair of fancy intense yellow diamond pendant earrings of 16.48 and 16.04-carats has an estimate of $650,000 to $750,000.
“Top quality Burmese rubies of over 15 carats are an absolute rarity in the world of coloured gemstones and the record price of $18.3 million achieved for the 15.04 carat Crimson Red Ruby at Christie’s Hong Kong in December 2015 exemplified the voracious appetite of collectors for these gems,” said International Head of Jewelry Rahul Kadakia.
The Magnificent Jewels auction will take place in New York on April 20.
