Botswana Diamonds to Begin Drilling in Orapa PL085 and PL210 in May
April 21, 16(IDEX Online News) – Botswana Diamonds PLC has released an update on the progress of its exploration program in Botswana, including the announcement that drilling in the Orapa region will begin in early May.
The company has licenses in three areas of Orapa, which form part of its 50/50 joint venture with ALROSA; PL085, PL210 and PL260. In the first two, Botswana Diamonds has conducted heavy concentrate sampling on detailed sites, selected according to the results of mineralogical research, washed heavy concentrate samples and mineralogical analyses of heavy concentrate samples in the field laboratory.
At PL260, the company has drilled two boreholes to a total depth of 423 meters on kimberlite pipe AK-21. Botswana Diamonds has also conducted magnetic and electric geophysical ground surveys to delineate anomalies connected to kimberlites, as well as Transient Electro Magnetic (TEM) soundings on kimberlite pipes AK-22 and AK-23.
The company has also conducted geophysical works and TEM soundings at its four prospecting licenses in the Gope region.
