De Beers to Leave London HQ
April 24, 16(IDEX Online News) – De Beers will leave its Charterhouse Street headquarters after almost a century as parent company Anglo American continues to trim costs and plans to offload $4 billion in assets, according to a report in The Guardian. Around 300 staff were informed last week that they would be leaving the premises, and moved from the Hatton Garden diamond district to Anglo’s headquarters near to St. James’s Park. The Charterhouse Street HQ used to be main hub of the company’s global business, but in recent years Anglo has moved its diamond-sorting operation and auction process nearer to the source of the stones, in Botswana's capital, Gaborone.
