GIA to Hold New York Jewelry Career Fair
May 04, 16(IDEX Online News) – The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has announced that it will hold another jewelry career fair, following the success of a corresponding event in 2015.
The grading organization said that it expected to draw crowds similar to the prior year’s event, which attracted recruiters from 48 companies and in excess of 600 job seekers.
The recruiting and education event – which is free and open to the public – will take place at the Javits Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, July 25. In addition to hiring opportunities for gem and jewelry careers, there will be one-on-one career coaching with some of the industry’s brightest names.
GIA president and CEO Susan Jacques will moderate the opening panel “Job Success in Today’s Market,” with a panel of industry leaders, including Christie’s international head of jewelry Rahul Kadakia, founder and chief creative director for LAGOS, Steven Lagos, Jewelry Television’s Natalie Tjaden and JCK senior vice president Yancy Weinrich.
