ALROSA Prepares to Introduce New Vehicles at Verkhne-Mundskoe Deposit
June 15, 16(IDEX Online News) – ALROSA has announced the introduction of several new motor vehicles into service in the run-up to the development of the Verkhne-Mundskoe deposit.
The Russian miner said that three new Scania road trains from Sweden with up to a 90-ton payload each, and a Tonar semitrailer from Russia, with up to a 130-ton payload capacity, proceeded to the delivery of diamond-bearing ore from the Zarnitsa pipe to the processing plant, located 18 kilometers from the deposit.
ALROSA is expecting delivery of another Tonar road train, also with a 130-ton payload capacity in August, due to be delivered to the production site of the Udachny Mining and Processing Division. The company will also receive two 90-ton payload capacity Volvo trucks.
"The implementation of the project with road trains is reducing dramatically the Company's investment costs for the transportation of mined rock from the Zarnitsa pipe,” said ALROSA’s internal investment projects head Alexander Bondarenko.
“It increases the profitability of remote and low-grade deposits development by way of reducing technological transportation costs."
