ALROSA Names 207-Carat Diamond 'Children of Asia'
July 07, 16(IDEX Online News) – ALROSA announced that the 207.29-carat rough diamond it recovered from its Zarnitsa pipe at the Udachny Mining and Processing Division will be named “Children of Asia.”
The gem quality rough diamond was recovered in March, and measures 38.0 x 37.0 x 18.0 mm – the largest ever found at Zarnitsa. The extracted stone represents a transparent transitional crystal with a slightly grooved surface. The diamond has yet to be named.
The diamond was named in honor of the Children of Asia Sports Games held every four years since 1996 in the Republic of Sakha (Yakhutia), and under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
