World Diamond Council Elects Stephane Fischler Vice President
July 14, 16(IDEX Online News) – The World Diamond Council (WDC) recently announced that its board of directors has elected Stephane Fischler, who has been active in the organization since its inception, as its vice president.
Fischler is a diamond industry veteran who holds a number of positions. He is a partner in Fischler Diamonds, currently serves as the president of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), vice president of the International Diamond Council (IDC) and Diamond Development Initiative, treasurer of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) and a Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC) board member. Fischler will succeed Andrey Polyakov as WDC president at the end of the latter’s two-year term in 2018.
Fischler said that he was looking forward to presenting the WDC’s case at the Kimberley Process, where it represents the entire diamond industry pipeline, from mining through to retail.
“Stephane Fischler’s extensive knowledge and experience, not only in the industry, but specifically with the KP, is invaluable to the WDC,” said WDC president Andrey Polyakov. “We now have a great team in place to continue our focus on engaging with and enhancing the Kimberley Process, to the benefit of all concerned.”
