ARM and RJC Strengthen Collaboration with Renewed MOU
July 27, 16(IDEX Online News) – The Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) and the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen jewelry supply chains.
The aim of the two organizations is to promote responsible precious metals supply chains, and their collaboration attempts to achieve several aims. These include, an improvement in social, environmental and labor practices, good governance and the implementation of ecosystem restoration practices in artisanal and small-scale mining; to enhance relationships between large-scale and artisanal mining and to increase market access for precious metals from responsible artisanal and small-scale mining.
ARM and RJC will streamline aspects of their assurance system and will allow for joint Fairminded and RJC Chain-of-Custody audits for companies who participate in both certification schemes to reduce audit burden, in an attempt to reduce barriers to more responsible supply chains.
“With this renewed MOU we look forward to strengthening our relationship with ARM and working together on our collective efforts towards responsible business practices within the jewelry supply chain,” said RJC executive director Andrew Bone.
