Namibia's Debmarine New Ship in Cape Town For Equipment Fitting
August 23, 16(IDEX Online News) – A new diamond exploration and sampling vessel commissioned by Namibian diamond mining firm Debmarine has arrived in Cape Town where technological equipment is being fitted.
The final phase of the building of the SS Nujoma follows a three-week journey from Norway where the ship was constructed by shipbuilder Kleven Verft. Construction of the vessel took 15 months.
The specially-designed, 113-meter long ship is due to start operating in Namibia’s Atlantic 1 diamond mining license area early next year.
After completion and testing of the sampling system and treatment plant fitting, the ship will sail to Namibia where it will start working in the Atlantic 1 mining license area.
