Rio Tinto’s Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender Inspires NY Jewelry Collections

October 02, 16 by Staff Reporter

(IDEX Online) – Rio Tinto’s 2016 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender collection has provided the inspiration for a $20 million showcase of iconic pink and blue diamond jewelry pieces and limited edition collections of exquisite jewelry in New York.

Argyle Pink Diamonds Authorised Partner Jordan Fine, whose New York based boutique diamond company JFine specializes in rare fancy color diamonds, has been at the vanguard of developing limited edition Argyle pink diamond jewelry collections, ideally suited to the US market.

Included in the $20 million jewelry collections is the unveiling of a $1 million statement ring, The Divine Lotus featuring a 1.45-carat pink diamond from the 2015 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender.

Jordan Fine said, “We have taken inspiration from the most celebrated of color diamonds, Argyle pink diamonds from Australia and worked closely with an exclusive network of nine luxury Argyle Pink Diamond’s Select Ateliers ™ in the US whose commitment to beautiful design and quality craftsmanship is second to none.”

The 2016 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender, named the 'Chroma Collection' because of its unprecedented spectrum of color, is in New York as part of its global showcase of the finest one-of-a-kind rare pink, red and violet diamonds from Rio Tinto’s Argyle Diamond Mine.

The US market is very important to Rio Tinto’s Argyle Pink Diamonds business, both in terms of the collector market for rare fancy color diamonds and for fine jewelry collections for the world’s largest retail diamond jewelry market.

Argyle Pink Diamonds manager Josephine Johnson said, “New York is the epicenter of rare and collectible diamonds and the incomparability of this year’s Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender offering is driving strong interest."

The 2016 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender comprises 57 pink diamonds, two violet diamonds and four red diamonds and weighs a total of 58.24 carats, including The Argyle Violet the largest violet diamond unearthed from the Argyle mine.

The collection comprises five hero diamonds selected for their unique beauty and named to ensure there is a permanent record of their contribution to the history of the world’s most important diamonds:

  • Argyle Violet™, 2.83 carat Fancy Deep Grayish Bluish Violet oval shape
  • Argyle Ultra™, 1.11 carat Fancy Dark Gray-Violet pear shape
  • Argyle Viva™, 1.21 carat Fancy Vivid Purple-Pink pear shape
  • Argyle Thea™, 2.24 carat Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink radiant shape
  • Argyle Aria™, 1.09 carat Fancy Red oval shape

Following its exclusive preview in Copenhagen, the 2016 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender is being showcased during invitation-only viewings in Hong Kong, New York, London and Perth and bids will close October 12.
