Established four months ago in Panama City, the association has grown to 95 women with many more showing an interest in joining, the organization said in a statement. The meeting resolved to formalize the group and elect a board of directors.
Ali Pastorini, Senior Vice President of the World Jewelry Hub, was unanimously elected by the group to serve as its first president. “I am honored and humbled to serve you in furthering our mutual goals. In such a short while, we have created much excitement throughout Latin America about the empowerment of women in the diamond and jewelry industry,” she said.
Judy Meana, Vice President of the World Jewelry Hub who nominated Pastorini for President, said: "We understand the big responsibility we face. Empowering women is not only to show how great we are but also to give opportunities and encourage them to keep fighting for their dreams."
Mujeres Brillantes has established a group on Facebook and WhatsApp where members are able to network, exchange ideas, experiences and also promote their businesses. Any woman in the industry who wishes to join the group may register on Facebook, and if qualified will be accepted.
