Lucapa Mothae Project Report: Mineral Resources Worth $1,063 P/Ct
March 27, 17(IDEX Online) – The Lucapa Diamond Company says that the Mothae mining project in Lesotho in which it bought a 70-percent stake for $9 million has mineral resources worth an estimated $1,063 per carat.
The total indicated and inferred Mothae diamond resource has been independently estimated at 38.96 million tonnes at a diamond grade of 2.7 carats per 100 tonnes containing 1.04 million carats.
The report, produced by The MSA Group of Johannesburg, said: "There is upside potential for the average diamond value based on the model value of large stones."
Meanwhile, an independent evaluation of the company's Lulo project in Botswana found an average modeled diamond value of $1,246 compared with an average gross sale price of $2,983 for the diamonds in 2016, which was the highest $ per carat diamond production in the world in 2016.
