Polished Diamond Prices Show Slight Decline in March
April 02, 17(IDEX Online News) – In March, the IDEX polished diamond price index saw a slight decline. The Index began the month at 120.98 and ended at 119.99.
The decline last month followed rises in the first two months of this year.
Outlook
Polished prices have continued a downward path seen from mid-2016. Meanwhile, rough prices are increasing due to strong demand, thereby putting pressure on profit margins which are already very thin.
The sentiment on the polished market appears to be slowing, with traders preparing for the Easter/Passover holidays. Reports from the BaselWorld Watch and Jewelry Show at the end of March appeared to confirm a slowdown, with caution being the watchword.
