Thai Gems and Jewelry Fair Begins in Bangkok
June 15, 17(IDEX Online) – The first edition of the Thai Gems and Jewelry Fair, being held from June 15 to 18, kicked off today with organizers saying 750 exhibitors are taking part.
The event is organized by the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) with the cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTS), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and AEC+6 industry associations. It is taking place at the IMPACT Challenger 2, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok.
TGJTA President Suttipong Damrongsakul told the opening event, which featured representatives from diamond, gemstone and jewelry organizations from Australia, China, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and elsewhere, that the gems and jewelry industry was responsible for $14.2 billion of exports last year. That was a 30 percent rise on 2015, he said.
The fair aims to play a part in boosting trade both domestically and with foreign markets and to put the spotlight on the strength of Thailand’s gems and jewelry industry.
