ALROSA Finds Diamonds Weighing 75 and 110 Carats in Yakutia

(IDEX Online) – ALROSA reported the recovery of a diamond weighing almost 110 carats at the Processing Plant No. 3 of its Mirny Mining and Processing Division on June 18.
Two days earlier, a 75-carat rough diamond was recovered at the Processing Plant No. 14 of Aikhal Mining and Processing Division.
“Both rough diamonds are initially estimated as gem-quality,” the miner said in a statement. “They are octahedron crystals with small inclusions, one of them with a straw-yellow tint.
“In a few days, the diamonds will arrive at ALROSA's Diamond Sorting Center, where they will be studied thoroughly and each will receive a special passport.”
According to ALROSA tradition, the large diamonds may be given names which the company will consider doing, it added.
