Three Britons Wanted By Police For Tokyo Diamond Heist
October 04, 17(IDEX Online) – Three British men are being placed an international wanted list relating to the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a Tokyo store.
The men are suspected of involvement in a robbery two years ago at a Harry Winston store in Omotesando Hills, an upscale shopping complex in Tokyo.
They are believed to have hit a security guard at the entrance to the complex before smashing displays and escaping with more than 40 pieces of jewelry, including many diamond rings and pendants.
Believed to be members of a worldwide jewelry heist group, it is thought the men immediately left Japan with their haul worth almost $900,000.
Tokyo police reportedly identified the three men as British from security camera footage in the store and surrounding area following the robbery.
Their names have not yet been confirmed, but they are on a wanted list with Interpol on suspicion of robbery resulting in injury.
