Ring with a World Record 7,801 Diamonds

October 21, 20 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - A team of jewelers in India have created a ring set with a record 7,801 diamonds.

The design, based on a rare, sacred Himalayan flower, has 46 petals, with diamonds covering every available surface.

The ring was painstakingly crafted over 11 months by The Diamond Store by Chandubhai, in Hyderabad  -  part of Hallmark Jewellers.

It narrowly beat the previous holder of the Guinness World Record for the most diamonds set in one ring.
Lakshikaa Jewels, from Mumbai, claimed the record last August with 7,777 diamonds with a ring valued at $4.9m that was a recreation in diamonds of the Lotus Temple in Delhi.

"It gives me immense pleasure to get awarded at the global level for the masterpiece that I created. This is a big milestone for us," said Kotti Srikanth, owner and founder of Hallmark Jewellers.

The ring, named The Divine - 7801, is to be auctioned.
