US Watches and Jewelry: Sales Surge by 26 per cent

(IDEX Online) - Sales of watches and jewelry surged in the US in January, up by a remarkable 26.1 per cent year-on-year. That's by far the biggest monthly increase we've seen since 2016. Year-on-year sales have been up since the markets showed the first signs of recovery in June 2020 from the catastrophic consequences of the Covid pandemic. They peaked in September at almost 17 per cent, but had been gradually slowing until the sudden burst in January. Sales in December were up 12 per cent (revised up from 11.5 per cent based on actual rather than estimated sales) and 13.4 per cent in November (revised down from 13.6 per cent).
