IDEX Price Report for 1 April: Rounds and Fancies Rise Slightly

(IDEX Online) - The more dominant movement was upwards for both rounds and fancies in March. There was little activity among fancies, but smaller goods reversed many of the losses suffered in February.

Rounds

There was mixed activity in goods of most sizes during March, with little movement among smaller stones, notably 0.18-0.29 cts and 0.50-0.69 cts. One carats (1.00-1.24 cts) saw a smattering of price drops among better colors and some increases elsewhere. Two carats (2.00-2.99 cts) saw more increases, especially among better clarities.

Fancies

There were clusters of price rises in 0.40-0.69 cts goods, but many sizes saw very little activity in the month. Prices were virtually static in smaller stones, under 0.30 cts. One carats (1.00-1.24 cts) saw occasional price drops, two carats (2.00-2.99 cts) were a mixed bag of odd increases and decreases among better colors.
