Diamond Billionaire and Son in Bitter Row

July 04, 21 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Diamond tycoon Lev Leviev is embroiled in a bitter legal row with his son.

Shalom Leviev, 42, accuses his father (pictured) - worth an estimated $1bn - of hastening his financial downfall, and his bankruptcy, over a debt of $240,000.

He describes his Leviev, 64, born in Uzbekistan and founder of LLD (Lev Leviev Diamonds), as his "enemy", and says he intends to sue him in court, according to a report by Israel's ynet news website.

The fall-out reportedly centers on dispute between father and son over diamonds.

There is also an ongoing row over the $3m home Shalom Leviev shared with his ex-wife Orly in Tel Aviv, Israel.

He wants to sell the home to pay his debts, but claims his father, who owns a part-share, is blocking the sale. The matter is being dealt with a court in Tel Aviv.
