IIJS Signature Postponed over Covid Concerns
January 02, 22(IDEX Online) - India's flagship trade show, the IIJS Signature, has been postponed at short notice because of Covid concerns.
Organisers of the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) said they had permission for the event, from 6 to 9 January at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, but had voluntarily taken the decision not to go ahead.
The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) said it had consulted exhibitors, foreign and domestic buyers, trade associations and members of its own committee.
IIJS events have already been disrupted by Covid, including the IIJS Premiere, which typically attracts 40,000 visitors and over 1,300 exhibitors.
However in September 2021 IIJS was able to hist the world's first largest physical-only show since the start of the pandemic, attracting over 21,000 visitors.
No new has been announced for the January 2022 show.
