Diamcor Reports 40% Increase in Rough Prices
February 15, 22(IDEX Online) - Diamcor reports $1m of rough sales this month, with average per-carat prices up 40 per cent on last September.
The Canadian junior miner said the 3,063 carats sold for $1,010,406 from Krone-Endor, at the Venetia deposit, in South Africa. They achieved an average $330 per carat.
In the three months to September 2021 it sold 4,330 carats for a total of $1,023,842, averaging $236 per carat.
Diamcor said the tender in Dubai, held in conjunction with Koin International, included three specials (+10.8-carats), among them a low-quality 16.79-carat rough, but said it had seen strong prices across all goods offered.
"Increased demand for all rough diamonds offered due to current limited availability industry-wide was apparent during the tender, and pricing in all rough diamond assortments and categories offered by the company increased over the previous quarter," it said.
Diamcor acquired Krone-Endor from De Beers in February 2011, and has a long-term strategic alliance and first right of refusal with Tiffany & Co's Canadian subsidiary.
