Nothing Lasts Forever: Documentary Lifts Lid on "Secretive" Diamond Industry
February 17, 22
(IDEX Online) - A new documentary, Nothing Lasts Forever, claims to lift the lid on the "highly secretive world" of the diamond industry.
It premiered last week at the Berlin International Film Festival to critical acclaim.
Jason Kohn spent 10 years on the 87-minute movie and interviewed "some of the most colorful and powerful industry insiders" - including Dusan Simic, Aja Raden, Martin Rapaport, Stephen Lussier and Chandu Sheta.
A review in Variety described it as "a solid, investigative documentary, shot and scored like a tight art-house thriller".
Producers Kilo Films says Kohn "infiltrates this highly secretive world, he uncovers a vast, far-reaching crime that threatens the value of every diamond ever mined".
It says: "Hidden from public view, a war is raging inside the diamond industry."
Anna Godas, CEO of distributors Dogwoof, said in a statement: "It's about how the consumer has fallen for the romantic bubble the industry has created".
No dates have yet been given for general release.
