GIA Joins WJI2030 Movement for Change
October 27, 22(IDEX Online) - The GIA has joined the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 (WJI 2030), founded last October as a movement for positive change in the industry.
It said the move was an extension of its commitment to a more sustainable future for the world, our industry and for the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
The Geneva-based WJI 2030, established by Cartier and Kering, focuses on building climate resilience, preserving resources and fostering inclusiveness.
Susan Jacques, GIA president and CEO, said: "We look forward to bringing our expertise, resources and focus on protecting consumers to support this important new initiative."
Earlier this year, GIA committed to issuing only digital gemological reports by 2025.
WJI 2030, which is open to all watch and jewelry players with a national or international footprint, believes the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can only be achieved through collaborative initiatives.
