Armed Raiders in $16m Heist at Piaget, in Paris
August 02, 23(IDEX Online) - Armed robbers yesterday (1 August) escaped with up to $16m of jewelry from a Piaget store, in the latest high-value raid on the Place Vendome, in Paris.
Police are reported to be hunting two smartly-dressed men and a woman who held staff members at gunpoint in the lunchtime heist.
It's the latest in a spate of raids in the area. Last month two armed men forced staff to open the safe at a Chaumet store in the Place Vendome
In May 2022, armed robbers targeted a Chanel watch and jewelry store in the area.
And in September 2021, raiders fled with $12m of jewelry from Bulgari's flagship store, also at Place Vendome. Officers fired shots at a getaway car, forcing three occupants to try to flee on foot after a high-speed chase.
