Four Arrested after Police Follow Rolex Tracker
August 14, 23(IDEX Online) - Four men have been arrested and charged over a $1.1m smash-and-grab - in which a Rolex watch fitted with a GPS tracker was stolen.
The heist, described by police as very quick and very violent, took place in March at the family-owned Heller Jewelers at a mall in San Ramon, California, USA.
Armed and masked gang members fled with 38 watches in four getaway cars.
San Ramon Police Department Chief Denton Carlson said the tiny GPS tracker helped them identify one of the suspects, which led them to four others, one of whom is still at large.
The defendants, identified as Sunia Mafileo Faavesi, 30, Ryan Kentrell Montgomery, 35, Paul Christopher Tonga, 33, and Kyle Vehikite, 34, were arrested on July 26 and have been charged in federal court.
