Record $8.4bn of Business at IIJS, say Organizers
August 14, 23(IDEX Online) - IIJS Premiere 2023 says it generated over $8.4bn of business - way ahead of forecasts before the six-day event, and far in excess of last year's show.
"IIJS Premiere 2023 is estimated to have seen business worth ₹70,000 crore being generated ($8.438bn) which is far beyond anyone's wildest dreams," said Vipul Shah, chairman of GJEPC (Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council) which organized the show. "As an exhibition, IIJS has truly come into a league of its own."
The value of orders at this year's IIJS Premiere (India International Jewellery Show) in Mumbai was up 41 per cent on last year's $5.958bn (₹49407 crore). Organizers had forecast the figure would be around the same as 2022.
"IIJS Premiere 2023 has achieved unprecedented success," added Shah, "surpassing all previous records and exceeding our expectations. It has singlehandedly reversed market sentiments and kickstarted the business cycle into high gear, perfectly timed ahead of the festive and wedding seasons."
Last year IIJS, the biggest event of its kind after JCK, said the show contributed almost a quarter of the country's total B2B annual sales of gems and jewelry.
This year there 1,850 exhibitors and 3,250 stalls, with over 50,000+ visitors, including 2100 international buyers from 65 countries.
