Julia Roberts' Jewelry from 6,225-ct Emerald

(IDEX Online) - Julia Roberts has unveiled her first ever jewelry collection, crafted from a fragment of an enormous 6,225-carat emerald (weighing 1.22kg).
The Oscar-winning actress, 56, co-designed the high jewelry capsule - a ring, a necklace, and a pair of earrings - together with Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director at Chopard, where Roberts is a global brand ambassador.
The Chopard x Julia Roberts collection started with the Insofu emerald recovered by Gemfields at its Kagem mine in Zambia in February 2010. It was named after the word for "elephant" in the language of the indigenous Bemba people.
Chopard bought the gemstone for an undisclosed sum in November 2018.
"Collaborating with Julia on this capsule collection has been an incredible journey," said Scheufele. "From the moment we discovered the Insofu emerald, we knew it… could inspire greatness."
