Faberge's $145,000 James Bond Egg
March 31, 24(IDEX Online) - Faberge has launched a $145,000 egg inspired by the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy.
It's the first in a series of jewelry and objet collections celebrating an archive of 007 movies that dates back to Dr No in 1962.
A limited edition of 50 green enamel Fabergé x007 Octopussy Egg Objets have been crafted, each featuring 180 round brilliant cut white diamonds with a total weight of 1.49ct, four blue sapphires, total weight 0.07ct, two round black diamonds, total weight 0.1ct, four yellow diamonds, total weight 0.06ct.
The Octopussy film, starring Roger Moore, had a plot line that centered around a Faberge egg heist.
The outside of the egg features Faberge's signature guilloche patterns, accompanied by an intricate artwork of engraved octopus tentacles wrapped around the egg.
Inside is a 18k yellow gold octopus, adorned with white diamond suckers and black diamond eyes.
The Faberge brand, which dates back to Gustav Fabergé in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1842, was acquired by UK-based gemstone miner Gemfields in 2013.
