6.2-ct Fancy Vivid Pink Fetches $12m

May 16, 24 by

(IDEX Online) - A 6.21-carat fancy vivid pink diamond sold for $12m at Philips Geneva.

The pre-sale estimate for the VS1 clarity, Type IIa gem (pictured), set in a ring, was $10.5m to $15m. It was the highlight of The Geneva Jewels Auction: Two auction on Monday (13 May).

The second-highest price went to the 1.56-carat Argyle Phoenix, the largest known round brilliant fancy red diamond, which was recovered from the iconic mine in Australia that closed in November 2020.

That was more than twice its pre-sale estimate of $1m to $1.5m. It was sold to Laurence Graff, founder of Graff Diamonds.

Phillips said 97 lots of the 131 lots offered were sold. The auction was sold 74 percent by lot and 86 percent by value.
