Jewelry Store Hit by Gang of 12 Raiders
June 09, 24(IDEX Online) - A jewelry store was ransacked by a gang of at least a dozen masked raiders.
They stormed into Bhindi Jewelers, in Newark, San Francisco, USA, after smashing their way through double security doors, and snatched high-value watches, gold rings and diamond necklaces.
Workers nearby heard the noise as they broke down the doors and assumed it was construction work.
The gang - of women and men - were in the store for less than three minutes and fled in getaway cars that were double-parked outside.
Police have not so far put a value on the goods that were stole from Bhindi, a family-owned Indian chain of four jewelry stores in the US. No arrests have been made, although police have recovered two vehicles used in then crime.
"It is absolutely crazy and frustrating that it occurred in the middle of the day but they're also going to wait until the stores are opened and their cases are stocked," said Newark police captain Jolie Macias.
