Swarm of 20 Raiders in Jewelry Smash and Grab
June 25, 24
(IDEX Online) - A jewelry store was targeted by a swarm of 20 hammer-wielding raiders who smashed display cases, stole merchandise and fled.
Five suspects were arrested after the raid at PNG Jewelers, in Sunnyvale, California, USA and some jewelry was recovered. The remaining 15 are still at large.
Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (a combined police, fire and ambulance service) says the suspects drove off before officers arrived after the raid, on 12 June. Officers chased two vehicles but lost sight of them both.
"The total value for the jewelry stolen is unknown at this time," said the department in a press release. "No victims were injured during the robbery."
Officers investigating the smash and grab say it may be linked to another jewelry store raid, also in Sunnyvale that happened in May and which involved multiple suspects.
