Signet Slips in NRF List of Top 100 Retailers
July 14, 24(IDEX Online) - Signet Jewelers has slipped 11 places to 67th in the National Retail Federation's (NRF) newly-published 2024 ranking of Top 100 Retailers.
The world's largest retailer of diamond jewelry, which includes the Kay, Zales, Jared and Blue Nile brands, was placed 56th in both 2022 and 2023. It was 78th in 2021.
Sales in the US (where Signet has 91 per cent of its stores) dipped by 7.3 per cent during 2023, according to the NRF, to $6.53bn. The number of US stores slipped by 4.4 per cent to 2,19 from 2022 to 2023.
Signet is the only specialty jewelry store in the Top 100 Retailers 2024 List. It reported a $40.1m net loss in the 13 weeks to 4 May (Q1 2025) as sales fell 9.4 per cent $1.5bn in a tough trading environment.
The top three US companies, ranked by sales, remain Walmart ($635bn), Amazon ($360bn) and Costco ($234bn) - all multiline retailers with jewelry departments.
