Diamond for Botswana's First Olympic Gold Medalist

(IDEX Online) - Letsile Tebogo, Botswana's first ever Olympic gold medal winner, has been presented with a diamond each by Debswana, along with his team mates.
The company, a joint venture between the Botswana government and De Beers, hosted an "appreciation ceremony" for all the country's athletes and coaches who attended the Paris games, and for Tebogo in particular.
He won the men's 200 meters with a time of 19.46 seconds, prompting the government to declare a half-day holiday in his honor.
The Debswana event was held in partnership with Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB) and De Beers Global Sight holder Sales (DBGSS).
Olympic team members each received a diamond pin and $4,400 in cash.
