Bulletproof Glass Thwarts Jewelry Raiders
August 28, 24(IDEX Online) - Raiders armed with hammers fled empty-handed after failing to smash their way through jewelry display cases at a store in Detroit, USA.
They were thwarted by inch-thick bulletproof glass.
"It took them about 20 different swings to get through it finally, and they still couldn't get through it all the way - with only getting a few inches out to pull through," Michael Yousif, manager at iPawn Detroit, told the Fox2 Detroit TV news channel.
He said there were Rolex watches, Cartier glasses and other valuables inside the showcase, but it did what it was supposed to do.
The raiders did eventually break through the glass - as seen on surveillance TV - but the fracture wasn't big enough for them to reach inside.
Detroit police are investigating.
