Drosos Steps Down after Seven Years as Signet CEO
October 06, 24(IDEX Online) - Gina Drosos is to step down next month as CEO of Signet, the world's largest retailer of diamond jewelry, after seven years at the helm.
She will be replaced by J.K. Symancyk, former president and CEO of PetSmart, which operates 1,650 pet superstores across the US and Canada.
Signet announced the appointment on 1 October. PetSmart announced the previous day that Symancyk would be leaving with immediate effect.
Drosos, 57, (pictured) former group president for global beauty at Procter & Gamble, oversaw an expansion of Signet's market share by nearly 50 per cent in recent years, reduced gross debt outstanding by over 90 per cent, nearly doubled liquidity, and expanded adjusted operating margin more than 70 per cent.
Signet also acquired Blue Nile, James Allen and Diamonds Direct during her time as CEO.
"As CEO, Gina led Signet in its transformation journey with strategic clarity, disciplined decision-making and a purpose-driven mindset," said Helen McCluskey, chair of Signet's board of directors.
Symancyk, 48, said: "I am passionate about serving customers and I recognize the emotional connection of Signet's customers when they are making a jewelry purchase.
"One of the key attributes that drew me to Signet is its purpose-driven and agile culture and focus on putting its team members and customers first."
