US Jewelry Store Owner Shot Dead in Raid
November 24, 24(IDEX Online) - The owner of a jewelry store was shot and killed during a smash and grab raid by a gang of masked men in Sacramento, California, USA.
It is the third US jewelry homicide this year.
Uc Thi Vo, 57, jointly ran Kim Tin Jewelry, at the Little Vietnam Plaza, with her husband, according to neighboring business owners.
She was rushed to hospital after shots were fired on 15 November, and died a short time later.
Sgt. Amar Gandhi, of Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, told the Sacramento Bee news website that deputies had not determined who shot the woman.
He said believed the suspects are believed to have returned fire after "the business owner" fired a shot.
The sheriff's office says four to six raiders fled after smashing display cases and grabbing merchandise. No arrests have been made so far.
In July an 83-year-old man was indicted on first-degree murder charges in Florida, USA, over the fatal shooting of jewelry store owner Ghazi "Gus" Michel Osta.
And in October two men were arrested after jeweler Hussein "Sam" Murray, 72, was killed during an attempted robbery at his home in Michigan.
