$13m Jewelry Stolen from London Home

December 31, 24 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Jewelry worth over $13m was stolen in what has been described as one of Britain's highest-value home burglaries.

A lone raider with what police say was an "unknown weapon" climbed through a second-story window of a 13-bedroom mansion in London's upmarket Primrose Hill.

Eight people - family members and staff - were reportedly at home at the time of the raid, at around 5pm on Saturday, 7 December.

The intruder broke into a safe and also took items from a dressing island.

The Metropolitan Police say he escaped with a haul including a Graff 10.73-carat diamond ring, two De Beers butterfly diamond rings, a Hermes 3.03-carat ring, aquamarine ring and 'Niloticud Lumiere' necklace, Chopard diamond earrings, pink sapphire Katherine Wang earrings, a Van Cleef & Arpels diamond, sapphire and platinum necklace/bracelet collection and a gold, diamond and sapphire necklace.

"This is a brazen offence, where the suspect has entered the property while armed with an unknown weapon and violated the sanctuary of the victims' home," said Detective Constable Paulo Robert.

"The suspect has stolen £10.4m ($13m) worth of jewellery, much of which is sentimental and unique in its design, and therefore easily identifiable."

The unnamed family is offering a $630,000 reward for information leading  to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, plus 10 per cent of the value for information leading to the retrieval of the stolen jewelry.
