Susan Jacques to Step Down as CEO at GIA
January 16, 25(IDEX Online) - Susan Jacques will step down as president and CEO of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) at the end of 2025, after 11 years at the helm.
Jacques (pictured), who grew up in Zimbabwe, spent 31 years at Borsheims Fine Jewelry and Gifts in Omaha, Nebraska, USA - 20 of them as CEO reporting to owner Warren Buffett - before joining GIA.
"I have been fortunate to lead one of the industry's most trusted organizations and our passionate teams around the world as we ensured the truth about gems through innovation, service and knowledge," she said, as the search began for a successor.
She is only the sixth president in the 94 years since the GIA was founded in 1931.
Lisa Locklear, chair of the GIA governors, described her as "an incredible leader for GIA and the global gem and jewelry industry".
She said: "Under her expert, compassionate and visionary leadership, GIA has achieved new heights of success in often challenging times."
